Similar but legally distinct from Funhammer 40k

Hosted by the ever wonderful humans of the Dice Saloon, a semi regular casual AOS event. This event will be very much aimed at casual play and a relaxed setting for people to try their hand at pitched battles against a variety of opponents across the day. This is not an event intended for the high meta list but an on ramp to get people used to the format or allow people more used to competitive play to test out fun and thematic lists. As a result there will be some stipulations on list building.

This event aims to welcome players of all experience levels,  however, this is not the ideal environment to learn to play the game from scratch. Players are expected to have a few battles under their belt, an understanding of the core rules, the rules for their army and a copy of the most recent edition of the general’s hand book. For those looking to learn how to play AOS from scratch, the Dice Saloon runs Path to Glory events that provide the perfect  environment to learn. While we welcome more experienced and competitively minded players, those individuals are likely to find themselves paired together and we request a toning down of your lists in the spirit of the event.
Remember! This event is more about great games, close games and fun games than winning.

Grab a partner and join us for a casual doubles tournament!

Age of Funmar Doubles is aimed at a more casual audience than the bi-monthly Standard Format Age of Sigmar events! It will consist of a one day event, with two 1000 point armies working together over three Swiss rounds to see which team arises victorious.

If you don’t have a partner (or you just have a spare friend!), have no worries! We will pair up people without a partner before the first round starts and both of you will play together all day.

Registration will be open from 10.00 aiming to start the first round at 10.30

1x Ticket needed per player (2x needed per team)

What to bring

- Some dice,
- A tape measure (preferably one each, but sharing is also fine),
- A copy of your battletome and core rule book (or access to these through the app),
- A 1000 point army (see list below for some list building rules).

Fully painted and based armies are appreciated but not required, but it’ll be hard to win the coolest army with an unpainted army!

Schedule
~10.00 - Registration starts
~10.30 - First round starts using the Rising Power Battleplan
~13.00 - First round ends and a 30min lunch starts
~13.30 - Second round starts using the Burn and Pillage Battleplan
~16.00 - Third round starts using the Frontal Assault Battleplan
~18.30 - Third round ends and prizes are awarded

Please bear with the Tournament Organiser as this will be the first tournament run by them so we may fall slightly behind schedule as they experience some teething issues!

Extra Rules

Since doubles events have no truly enshrined rules, there have to be some clarifications in the rules, if something is unclear please don’t hesitate to contact the TO, Ollie at oliver.lj.wright@gmail.com

When referring to a player, we are referring to an individual player, however when talking about the team we refer to both of the players who make up the team.

Rules for lists
- Both players must have a list that consists of at most 1000 points, points cannot be shared between you and your partner,

- Each player has their own core enhancements (Artefact, Command Trait, Spell Lore, etc.) however the team cannot have any duplicate enhancements (there is only one Amulet of Destiny after all!),

- No one unit in your army can make up more that half the total points in your army (unless you play Sons of Behemat, in which case you can only include one mega-gargant regardless of points cost),

- No Unique characters (this time…),

- Battalions are per army (you can’t fill out your partner’s battalions),

- Grand Strategies won’t be used at this event (do most people even remember these anyway),

- Finally, remember this is supposed to be fun! If you’re list is at the top of the meta then yo may ask you to change your list.

- Please have your list submitted to BCP (Best Coast Pairings) one full week ahead of the event for the TO to examine and critique if necessary. Lists entered after this date may not be accepted. https://www.bestcoastpairings.com/event/0957clnn

Rules for games
- Each player generates their own Command points as per the main rulebook,

- Each player can only order their own units (Chaos Chosen wouldn’t listen to a Skaven Grey Seer anyway!),

- Abilities that affect friendly units do not affect your partner’s units (however this might change in later events!),

- At the start of the Hero phase, all players can attempt a Heroic action with one hero, however only one player can attempt a Heroic action from their battletome,

- Only using the Battle Tactics from the main rulebook will be used at this event (this means no faction specific battle tactics or general's handbook tactics),

- Triumphs will be decided by which player has the lowest points total, i.e. if team A has an army that costs 950pts and the other is 1000pts and team B has an army that costs 970pts and the other is 960pts then even though team B has a lower total cost ( 970 + 960 = 1930 for team B and 950 + 1000 = 1950 for team A) only the player from team A with a 950pts list has a Triumph,

- Again, remember this is supposed to be fun! If there are, perhaps rules not thought of then agree with the opposing team a cool rule, or if an agreement can’t be made, contact the TO!

Prizes
There will be Prizes awarded for the Best General, the Coolest Army (voted on by other tournament goers) and Combined Best General/Cool Army.
These will be in the form of Certificates and Store credit.
